Opening to Get Fit Selma! 2021
Register for the 5K Run & Community Fun Run/Walk. Kids’ Color Run Is cancelled due to COVID challenges.
Youth & Children may register for the Community Fun Run/Walk and run or walk the distance that they are able.

If you wish to register for either the 5K Run or the Community Fun Run/Walk , you need to provide information such as your name, gender, age on the day of the run, address and phone number.
After reading the following information about the race, please pay attention to the waiver agreement. This agreement assures that you understand that you bear the responsibility for any injuries you might suffer because of your participation in either the runs or walks. Click on the button at the bottom of this page, and you will go to the registration page where you can enter the information requested, plus choose to pay online with a credit card or in person at McRae-Gaines or the morning of the run with a check, money order or cash. only – we don’t have the ability to accept credit cards.
How can I register?
There are several ways you can register:
You can register and pay online on the following page (after you click on the “Register” button at the bottom of this page)
You can fill out the registration form available by clicking on the button on the previous page labeled “5K Run/Walk Reg Form” then either hand deliver it with your registration fee to McRae-Gaines Learning Center from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday. You can fax the form the Mrs. Angie McCary at 334-872-8194.
Or you can mail the completed form and registration fee to the school’s mailing address:

Mail-in registrations must be postmarked by Tuesday, October 12, 2021.
NOTE: If you register online but do not elect to pre-pay through credit card or PayPal, then you will need to complete payment on race day at the table by the race start/finish line (see next entry). Once again, race day payment will need to be made by check, money order or cash (no credit cards).
Race-Day Registration
Begins at 7:00 am at the McRae-Gaines Learning Center property at 1101 Woodrow Avenue and ends at 7:45 am. Shirt selection may be limited on race day.
5K Race Course Description
TO BE ADDED.
The Community Fun Run / Walk (starting at 8:30 am).
The courses will be clearly marked with directional signs as well as volunteers to direct the runners/walkers.
Location
All Run and Walk events start and finish at McRae-Gaines Learning Center.
Runner Safety
Runner safety will always be a top priority for our event.
Roller blades and pets are not allowed in the 5K Event.
Use of personal musical devices is strongly discouraged at this race.
Use of baby joggers or strollers is not prohibited but we encourage participants to start behind the runners and walkers.
Packet Pickup
All participants may register, pay their fees and pick up their race packets on Friday, October 15, from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm or on race day at the at McRae-Gaines from 7:00 am to 7:45 am.
Awards
Prizes will be awarded for 1st overall M/F and 1st Master M/F (age 50 +) and then by age group in five-year increments starting with age 14 and under up to 70+.
Get Fit Selma! Defeat Diabetes 5K Run & Community Fun Run/Walk Registration Rates
- 5K – Youth and Students through 21 years of age are $15
- 5K – Adults 22 years of age and older are $25
- K-5th Grade Kids’ are $8 each
Your fees pay for the City of Selma Event Permit, timing, t-shirts, and prizes. Thank you for joining us and supporting this health & wellness event in Selma, Alabama.
School Team Fees
Special Team Fees are available to Middle School, High School and College Teams that would like to run or walk. Team forms are available by emailing getfitselma@gmail.com.
Youth Teams under 18 years of age must have adult supervision.
Community Fun Run/Walk Registration Rates
- Youth 13 years of age and under are $8.
- Youth 14 years of age and older through Adults are $10.
