Health Screenings, Health Educator & Vendor Fair

Our health care professionals offer a basic screening in blood pressure, pulse rate, blood sugar and BMI. We also hope to provide hearing and vision tests. After you go through your personalized tests you can visit any and all of the 30 health educators and vendors who will provide the latest information on a number of health challenges.

Frequently Asked Questions

If you wish to register for either the 5K Run or the Community Fun Run/Walk you need to provide information such as your name, gender, age on the day of the run, address and phone number. After reading the following information about the race, please pay attention to the waiver agreement.  This agreement assures that you understand your responsibility for any injuries you might suffer because of your participation in either the runs or walks.  Click on the button at the bottom of this page, and you will go to the registration page where you can enter the information requested and choose to pay online with a credit card. Or you can pay in person at McRae-Gaines any time you want to go by 1101 Woodrow Ave. Last choice would be to pay the morning of the run with a check, cash or credit card (we are working on accepting credit cards the day of Get Fit Selma!).

There are several ways you can register: You can register and pay online on the following page (after you click on the “Register” button at the bottom of this page) 1. You can fill out the registration form available by clicking on the button on the previous page labeled “5K Run/Walk Reg Form.” 2. Then either hand deliver it with your registration fee to McRae-Gaines Learning Center at 1101 Woodrow Avenue, Selma AL, Monday-Friday, from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm.  3. Or fax the form the Mrs. Angie McCary at 334-872-8194 and pay the day of the run. 4. Last recourse, you can mail the completed form and registration fee to the school’s mailing address: 5. Mail-in registrations must be postmarked by Tuesday, October 15, 2024.

If you register online but do not elect to pre-pay through credit card or PayPal, then you will need to complete payment on race day at the Registration Station at the start/finish line (see next entry). Once again, race day payment will need to be made by check, cash or possibly credit card. (We are working on accepting credit cards).

Begins at 7:00 am at the McRae-Gaines Learning Center property at 1101 Woodrow Avenue and ends at 7:45 am.
1-mile around the track with COLOR!!! Wear a shirt that you don’t mind getting colored!
The course will be 1-Mile and will be clearly marked with directional signs and volunteers to direct the runners/walkers.
All Run and Walk events start and finish at McRae-Gaines Learning Center.
Runner safety will always be a top priority for our event. Roller blades and pets are not allowed in the 5K Event. Use of personal musical devices is strongly discouraged at this race. Use of baby joggers or strollers is not prohibited but we encourage participants to start behind the runners and walkers.

All participants may pick up their race packets

on Thursday, October 17, 2024, at McRae-Gaines, 1101 Woodrow Ave. Selma AL, Noon to 5:00 PM or on race day at the McRae Learning Center from 7:00 to 7:45 am. 

Prizes will be awarded for 1st overall M/F and 1st Master M/F (age 40 +) and then by age group in five-year increments starting with age 14 and under up to 70+.
As mentioned, your sponsorship allows us to provide a more exciting experience for our Health & Fitness Festival participants. Major and Presenting Sponsorships are $3,000 to $1,500. Community Sponsorships are $1,000 to $50 (for food or water!) See the attached Sponsorship Information!

The MGLC Carnival operates totally with tickets. $1.00 each. Games: Ring Toss, Duck Pond, Face Painting, Bouncer House, Cake Walk, Bingo, Snacks: Pop Corn, Cotton Candy, Nachos.

Food Tickets will be available at McRae-Gaines, 9:00 am to 4:00 pm, Monday, October 14 through Friday, October 18 and 9:00 am to 1:30 pm, and Saturday, October 19th.
